A new attack ad in the Ohio gubernatorial election between Amy Acton and Vivek Ramaswamy shows Acton’s mother claiming that Acton has misrepresented her childhood and urging voters not to support her. The Acton campaign responded with a statement from Acton’s brother, calling the ad “a despicable low” and detailing alleged sexual abuse that occurred against Acton during her childhood by her stepfather. Acton has said that during her childhood she experienced homelessness for a time and sexual abuse by her stepfather. She says that she lived in a tent during one winter when she was 12. In the ad, her mother alleges that Acton lies about her childhood, specifically denying that they ever lived in a tent. The video does not address the sexual abuse allegations.
